About Us
Overview
The G-LENS (Gender Lens to Climate Transition on Youth Work) project is a dynamic initiative aimed at addressing two pressing global issues: climate change (CC) and gender inequality. Our project is a collaborative effort to enhance the capacities of youth workers operating in the intersection of gender and climate, promoting cooperation among NGOs and fostering sustainable practices.
Understanding the Intersection
While climate change affects everyone, it disproportionately impacts women. Our project acknowledges this reality and underscores the interconnection between the climate emergency and gender equality (GE). By addressing these issues together, we aim to create more inclusive and effective solutions that benefit everyone.
Project Objectives
- Knowledge Enhancement Increase understanding of gender-responsive climate action.
- NGO Cooperation Facilitate collaboration among NGOs working in gender and climate fields.
- Capacity Building Provide non-formal learning opportunities for youth workers.
- Awareness Raise awareness among youth workers about the interrelation of climate change and gender.
- Impact on Decision-Making Advocate for meaningful participation of women in decision-making processes.
- Mapping Study Conduct a comprehensive mapping study to enhance the visibility of relevant organizations.
- Sharing Best Practices Ensure project partners share successful practices from Europe and around the world.
Alignment with Strategies
Our project strongly aligns with the EU Green Deal Strategy and the EU Gender Equality Strategy, contributing directly to European Youth Goals and UN Sustainable Development Goals related to gender equality, climate action, and knowledge building.
Target Audience
The project focuses on professional and volunteer youth workers, managers, decision-makers, and experts in climate and gender areas, as well as NGOs active in these domains. By understanding the specific needs of our target audience, we aim to address knowledge gaps, foster policy contributions, and promote coordination among stakeholders.
Survey Insights
Our research and surveys have revealed critical insights, indicating the need for increased knowledge, coordination, and policy contribution in the fields of gender and climate. The responses highlight the potential for positive change, as youth workers express a desire for more responsibility and active engagement.
Geographic Focus
With a direct target audience from Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, and Turkey, the project prioritizes equal gender representation, diverse age groups, and participants from various work backgrounds. Special attention is given to disadvantaged and under-represented individuals and organizations.

Since our founding in 2014 we have always focused on developing specific projects while promoting an attitude that can be shared by anyone “Whenever you go surfing, pick up something from the beach.” It is a small action but, if a large number of surfers carried it out every day, it could become a change in attitude as a community, which could inspire the rest of the population. During these years we have carried out the following activities: Educational, artistic, collaborative, scientific, events and awareness campaigns. APIMT (Association for Equality and Improvement of Transport) is a non-profit association whose main function is to improve and achieve greater development of transport in the city of Seville, metropolitan area and province. Along with this, fight for equality and the rights of all people who live in society, as far as mobility is concerned, since people are the main ingredient and engine within the means of transport of a territory and if we do not fight for their equality, rights, comfort and achievement of a means of quality transport, leaving aside the social aspects and needs, then what good are the transports if they are not made for people. Another aspect to take into account regarding public transport, and that our association wants to fight to be carried out, is the development of a greater transport network more competent and accessible to people living in Seville, its metropolitan area and province and so citizens can move to any point quickly and comfortably not wasting so many hours a day in traffic jams, in reaching different parts of the city, between a population and the capital .... They could use all that time to do feasible tasks and also enjoy a higher environmental quality as a result of the reduction of carbon dioxide (C02) when using public transport.

Located in the heart of Brussels, Amazone is a bilingual organization dedicated to women* and the associations that carry out their struggles. A dynamic place of information, support, awareness and training, Amazone closely follows the feminist movement in Belgium and participates in the creation of social, cultural and professional links in the field of promoting gender equality. Amazone was founded in 1995 by Miet Smet, then minister and secretary of state, responsible for the policy of equal opportunities between women and men. The initial goal was to provide infrastructure to various groups of women who, at the time, did not have a place to develop properly. The aim was not only to provide better accommodation and infrastructure for women's organizations, but also to create a place for meeting and networking. Amazone promotes intersectional feminism, which takes into account the many additional discriminations (in addition to sexism) that sexized people experience. The organization has an association center, a social integration restaurant as well as a conference center and an information center.

It is great when you find someone that shares your views on human rights and is willing to put their time and effort in improving what they saw as injustice. This happened many years ago with Anna, Tatiana, Catia, and Andreia. Thus, we took the lead and registered Stichting CAAT Projects in January 2016. We started our operations in The Hague, together with other organizations, like the The Hague Youth Factory. Years later we moved our operational centre to Amsterdam, to the OT301 building, in a close cooperation with Home of Participation. The social actors in CAAT have changed and we now we have integrated other colleagues as Marik and Tom, as well as David, Marzieh and Joe in our board. We have also the pleasure of collaborating with an enthusiastic group of volunteers and friends. Despite the changes in location and team, our core value continues the same – human rights for all. We will keep on building an impressive record of successful projects in the Netherlands and abroad, achieving the goals set in the organizational planning. Moreover, CAAT Projects has also been delivering on the requirements of the EU funded projects and bringing people together from various backgrounds. Our door keeps on being open to new opportunities, projects and collaboration either with organizations or individuals. If you think you share similar values than us, contact us and we would brainstorm together.

Our goal is to embed sustainability in the DNA of education. We do this using an integrated approach: The Whole School Approach. As a framework for the content of sustainable development, we use the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This broad approach means that in addition to, for example, environmental aspects, we also look at the social side of sustainability (equality and inclusiveness). We are also the national coordinator for the Alliance on SDG4. We connect teachers, schools and organizations that want to move forward with sustainable development in education. We do this through our networks, meetings, events and projects. The implementation of various projects is done in cooperation with our members, who have both feet firmly on the ground.

Our Project Aspires to be Permanent
Although our project is officially over, sustainability studies are ongoing. Our project, which is promoted by the project partners in various circles and channels, is welcomed with interest by other youth organizations and more and more institutions that want to be involved in the mapping work are joining us.
As the next stage, we aim to expand the mapping to include more organizations in the current 4 countries, as well as to different countries in Europe.

Local Implementation of the Training Program in Spain
The training program was implemented by Pacto Verde with the participation of 26 youth workers and trainers in 4 sessions in Huelva, Spain.
The course served as a dynamic and enriching platform to explore the critical intersection between gender and climate change. By addressing this timely and multifaceted topic, it provided participants and organizations with a valuable opportunity to develop both conceptual frameworks and practical tools. The carefully structured program, divided into four progressive sessions, facilitated a step-by-step approach to learning, ensuring that complex issues were gradually unpacked and thoroughly understood by all participants, regardless of their initial level of knowledge.
Additionally, the connection with the Erasmus+ program and the One Step Closer: Gender Lens to the Climate Transition project brought a transnational dimension to the training. By showcasing the benefits of international cooperation and networks, the course underscored the importance of collective efforts in promoting inclusive and sustainable practices across borders. The alignment with Erasmus+ goals further reinforced the value of intercultural learning and partnerships in addressing global challenges, making the participants more aware of their roles as global citizens.

This Time The Training Program Was Implemented In Turkey
The training program we produced was implemented by BizBizze Association. The participants discussed what professional civil society workers can do against Climate Change from the perspective of gender equality and discussed different topics such as budget, policy, gender analysis, climate change fundamentals and youth work in the form of theoretical and group work for three days.

Gender Response to Climate Action Training Has Implemented in Belgium
✌️ From October 23–25, we successfully completed our Gender Responsive Climate Action Training with the participation of 17 amazing youth workers in Brussels, Belgium. As one of the key components of our Gender Lens 4 Climate Action in Youth Work project, this training featured workshops designed to build the capacity of youth workers. Through sessions on gender-climate interaction, gender analysis and methodology, policies, and youth work, participants gained valuable insights and shared their own experiences. 🌎
⏭️ This training has organized by CERA Europe and local training sessions and networking events related to the project will continue in the coming days. For more information, please check our website in our profile and social media accounts.

Youth Workers Come Together in the Netherlands
Project partner Jump to Green conducted a collaboration workshop in the Netherlands. The participants represented a diverse group of youth workers, community leaders, and experts in gender and climate advocacy. The age group ranged from 21 to 45 years, ensuring a mix of young professionals and experienced practitioners. Organizations such as regional NGOs, educational institutions, and local government bodies were represented.
Many participants had expertise in policy development, youth engagement, and climate education. Additionally, some attendees were rural community representatives, bringing unique perspectives on localized challenges and opportunities at the intersection of gender and climate.
Participants engaged in icebreakers to build rapport and establish a collaborative environment. Later on presentations introduced the objectives of the Gender Lens to Climate Transition project and provided an overview of workshop goals and activities.

Training Program is Ready
We are thrilled to announce the completion of the Gender Responsive Climate Action for Youth Workers training program, meticulously designed to empower youth workers in addressing the intersection of climate change and gender equality.
The training program spans 32 hours, structured into three main modules, each offering insightful content tailored for youth workers. Designed with a focus on non-formal education methods, the program ensures an engaging and practical learning experience.
This program goes beyond the intersection of climate and gender equality, incorporating:
- Key concepts of youth programming and activities.
- Effective tools to foster inclusivity in addressing climate challenges.
- Practical examples and methods to implement gender-sensitive approaches in youth-related climate actions.
The program is the result of a collaborative effort among four partners from four countries, combining diverse perspectives and expertise to create a resource that is both globally relevant and locally adaptable.
This training program is now available and serves as a valuable resource for youth workers seeking to make a tangible impact in their communities. Join us in building a future where climate action is not only sustainable but also inclusive.
Project Interim Meeting Organized in Huelva, Spain
Greetings from Huelva, Spain!🙋🏻♀️
We have gathered for our Gender-Lens Project’s Interim Meeting 09.03.2024. During the meeting we talked about how the project is going and planned our training schedule, local workshops and dissemination efforts. Project partners' representatives involved and contributed.
Big thanks to @pactoverde_org for being such great hosts! 💚

Mapping Study Continues
The mapping study, one of the main outputs of the project, continues with the contributions of project partners from 4 countries. The digital mapping, which aims to make civil society organizations working in the fields of Environment & Climate or Gender Equality more visible and to strengthen cooperation and communication between them, is now live on our website. The digital map has dynamic content with filtering features based on the field of work and country. New organizations will continue to be added to the map, which includes basic information about the organizations and their projects.
